Anywhere that isn't Europe (greece only exception) has armies composed of a pikeman core. However, the biggest difference you'll notice is PIKEMEN EVERYWHERE. I've seen a cavarly unit lose 15 men to an enemy's 800. But used well, cavalry will decimate an opponents army of infantry. Infantry on the other hand are cheap, easy to mantain and easy to replace. However, a unit of cavalry charging the rear of an engaged infantry unit will kill about half outright with the rest breaking and running away (to be cut down by the same cavalry) unless they're an elite unit.Įssentially, cavalry are expensive, hard to mantain and difficult to replace (reinforce).
